General Information

Second Grade Rules and Falcon Pride Guidelines

  1. Follow directions the first time they are given
  2. Have respect for yourself and others
  3. Raise your hand and wait to be called on
  4. Be ready to learn
  5. Follow the school rules at all times

Behavior System

Students will receive Dojo Dollars for participation and random acts of kindness. Once they accumulate enough money they may purchase something from the class Dojo Store. Consequently, if students misbehave, continually call out, disrupt the class or are not prepared they will loose Dojo Dollars. If your child looses a significant amount of Dojo Dollars I will reach out to you through ClassDojo.

 Homework

We normally have homework Monday through Thursday. The assignments will be sent home at the beginning of the week and can be turned in daily or on the last day of the week. However, each day your child will be asked to read 10 minutes and log their book on their individual reading log. They may read a book from home, the library, RAZ, Epic or my classroom library. Links to the online reading resources can be found under the Parent Resource link on my Canvas Homepage.

In addition to completing the homework packet your child will be expected to practice their Trick Words at home throughout the week. These words can be found inside their yellow Homework Folder and on Canvas under Parent Resources. We will highlight the words that have been introduced, so you know which words to focus on throughout the week.

Snacks

In second grade you have the option to send in an individual snack to school with your child each day. While it is not required, this snack helps to re-energize students.

• Make sure that your child is able to open any containers or packaging independently.

• We encourage healthy choices such as fruits, vegetables, cheese, yogurt, granola bars, goldfish crackers, pretzels, cereal, or raisins.

o *Please note that any candy or cheese -covered chips or curls (due to our computers), will return to your child’s book bag to enjoy at home.

• Send a fork or spoon when needed.

• Send items that are easy to clean up independently.

• As always, water bottles are welcome and encouraged.
