How to Help Others During COVID-19

Helping Others

If you are looking for ways to support families who have been significantly impacted by the COVID-19 Pandemic, here are some opportunities to consider:

Food Items:

*Contact the local food banks listed here to see how you can help them provide food items to families.

*Falcon Packs provide meal and snack items to our Lower Dauphin students.  You can donate food items at one of the Blue Bins at the following locations at any time:

  • Lower Dauphin Middle School Field House

  • Hummelstown Library @ 200 West Second Street, Hummelstown

  • Thrivent Financial @ 20 West Main Street, Hummelstown

--On Mondays from 10 am-11 am, you can also drop items off at Zion Lutheran Church @ 100 West Main Street, Hummelstown.

The following food items are encouraged:

  • Peanut butter-small or medium size (no glass jars)
  • Canned Tuna/Chicken
  • Spaghetti/pasta
  • Apple sauce
  • Small single serve cereal (the large boxes do not fit in bags)
  • Snack bars (chewy bars, breakfast bars, ect)
  • Soups
  • Any food that is non-perishable, kid-friendly and won’t “melt” in the bins.  Please do not donate expired food items.

Back-to-School Supplies:

*The Ready-for-School program is made possible by the financial generosity of Grace UM Church and our community members.  It provides free fully-stocked back packs to referred students in Kindergarten-12th grades to start the new school year.

Due to the current COVID-19 crisis, we are not currently accepting donations of supplies in an effort to reduce contact and remain compliant with CDC guidelines.  If you have any questions regarding support of the program, please feel free to contact Tammy Houck at tammyhouck@gracehummelstown.org

If you are interested in supporting the outreach with a financial gift, please make checks payable to Ready-for-School Program and mail gifts to:

Grace UM Church, ATTN:  Tammy Houck, RFS, 433 E. Main Street, Hummelstown, PA  17036.

These organizations and their events are not endorsed or sponsored by Londonderry Elementary School or the Lower Dauphin School District.
